and this is just a small sampling. I don't want to throw any out because I am hopeful that one day one of these poor socks' companion will finally give up life on the road and come home!

Precisely why I have a box on my dresser filled with mix-matched socks. I eventually find mates for every single one. If I don't find a mate within 6 months or so they go in the trash.
