Cboy's school teaches reading using this method, which combines memorization and learning of "sight" words with phonics. We're finding that Cboy isn't retaining as well as he should using this and we have reverted to having him practice reading using the simple "See boy. See boy run." books that we all grew up on ....Trinidaddy in Trinidad and me in the DC public school system.
I always read 2 grades ahead of my class so, I know at one point, the DC public school system was not the disaster it is today. I guess it helped that I enjoyed reading and the library, but whatever, we're ready to give up on Open court Reading
