okay...my mom is not in the country and i sure could use some of her down home remedies right now because first, the advice nurse at my children's pediatrician's office failed to call me back before the office closed for the day and then now, I've been waiting for an entire hour for the on call doctor to call me....
someone should invent an on-call service for frantic moms when there isn't a granny available for them and call it GRANNY 911...
THE PREMISE: grannies around the region and nation on call waiting to dispense tried and true old home remedies from the old country.
The cost: an annual membership fee per family and the proceeds get split up among the answering service and payment to the grannies who are prolly on fixed income and could use the extra money
The satisfaction: Grannies get the satisfaction of knowing someone wants their advice even when their kids and grandkids may shun such advice and they get paid for the service.

someone also needs to invent an afterschool child care service that picks up kids from various schools closing early and cartes them to an after school center where they play until their parents can come get them after 5pm when most offices close. I suppose this has already been invented but darn it if there aren't any options in my area!
