Oh the Stories Children Tell!

There is a reason why one should spell certain words and not partake in certain conversations in front of children.

Yesterday, while chaperoning Caleb's spring field trip, this little boy tells me and another parent, "my mom and dad had to go get my brother out of jail yesterday for stealing bikes." Doh! I'm sure his parents wouldn't appreciate that gem of news being shared with any and everyone like that.

Three more stories my mother shared with me of real life situations where children were just being honest. God bless them:

Story #1:
Immigration was knocking on the door of a family. The wanted father of the family of three peers over the window and notices the INS truck parked in the front of the apartment building. He runs to hide under the bed. His wife answers. When asked, she denies and says, "um He's not home right now." Just then, 7 year old junior buts in, "YES, he is. I'll show you" then proceeds to motion to the officers to follow him.

The INS officers come in and follow Jr to the back bedroom where Jr. lifts the sheets, revealing his hiding papa and points, "There he is. You can see his little beady eyes!"

Story #2:
Grandma supposed to be watching Junior during the summer since she was retired. Parents were concerned for her health because she was just diagnosed diabetic and supposed to be staying away from sweets, alcohol, carbs etc. Parents get home and ask so, "What have you guys been doing all day?" 8 year old Junior goes to the trash can behind the house and brings out one by one 12 HEINEKEN BOTTLES and says, "I've been watching grandma drink these all day!"

Story #3
My mom's friend is in line at the bank and just then an older woman with a young girl who looks like her granddaughter comes in. The child is precocious and asking questions. There is a long line and while in line the little girl says, "Mommy was eating daddy this morning." Shocked, the grandmother gives the little girl "the eye" and shakes her head for the girl to hush. "No. I saw it. I saw it." The little doll then proceeds to demonstrate the eh hem "motions" , bobbing her head up and down over her fist for her grandma and EVERYONE IN THE BANK LINE AND THE TELLERS to see. Beat red and obviously embarrassed, the grandmother grabs little Susie and heads out the door! Guess her daughter got an earful that day, huh?

LOL!! HILARIOUS. The lesson of these stories: save the special stories for when the children are out of earshot, oh and lock the bedroom door! hahahahahaha!
