RIP Monarch

Obituary of a Monarch Caterpillar
Surburbia, Maryland - May 8, 2007

Suddenly, the afternoon of May 8th, 2007, victim of strangulation and foul play. Leaves behind a larvae and 100 caterpillar brothers and sisters.

It is true that cute lovable and sweet two-year old Jarrod is contributing to the caterpillar population control. Whilst chasing and trying to be like his big brother who likes examining caterpillars he collects by letting them crawl on sticks, Jarrod inadvertantly steps on them. While trying to pick them up with his own tiny twig, he accidentally gouges out their little caterpillar eyes. So while there may be oh 10, maybe 25 less beautiful butterflies and moths fluttering about this summer, some of the good people of my neighborhood should thank my son for letting their linen suits last one more season without moth holes!
